J-Mac Tool has integrated the use of Dye Penetrant to our inspection program. Dye Penetrant is a widely applied, low cost inspection method used to locate surface-breaking defects by use of capillary action of a colored or florescent dye in the defect. This technique can be used on all non-porous materials, such as metals, plastics, or ceramics. LPI is used to detect casting and forging defects, cracks, and leaks in new products, and fatigue cracks on in service components.
J-Mac is staffed with highly certified NDT inspectors who specialize in Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant inspections for any application. These inspections are an economically viable means of testing, protecting, and maintaining the integrity of your assets. NDT inspections provide an excellent balance between quality control and cost- effectiveness.
Advantages of Using Dye Penetrant:
High Sensitivity to detect small surface discontinuities.
PT has few material limitations able to inspect metallic and non-metallic, magnetic, and non-magnetic, conductive and non conductive materials.
Large areas, test pieces and large volumes of parts/materials can be inspected quickly with relatively low cost.
Parts with complex geometric shapes are often, easily inspected.
Indications are surface breaking, giving the technician a visual representation of the flaw.
It is very portable, due to the use of aerosol spray cans.
